🚀 Overview

Tasks are the building blocks of every project.
In IXL Core, each task can have its own priority level, status, assignee, due date, and attached files.
They help your team stay organized, accountable, and aligned — all from one central workspace.

🔧 Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Open the Project

  1. Log in to your IXL Core account: https://app.ixlcore.com

  2. Go to the Projects module from the top navigation bar.

  3. Select the project you want to work on.

  4. Click the Tasks tab within the project view.

💡 Tip: You can also access all your tasks across projects from the Tasks Dashboard in the main navigation menu.

Step 2: Create a New Task

  1. Click “New Task” or the ➕ icon.

  2. Fill in the required fields:

Field Description
Task Name The title of your task (e.g., “Prepare Design Mockups”).
Description Details about what needs to be done.
Assigned To Select a team member responsible for completing it.
Start Date / Due Date Define the time frame for the task.
Priority Choose Low, Medium, or High to indicate urgency.
Milestone (optional) Link the task to a specific project milestone.
  1. Click Save Task when done.

💡 Pro Tip: Tasks with a due date automatically appear in the assigned user’s daily dashboard and calendar.

Step 3: Add Attachments and Comments

  • Attach relevant files like briefs, images, or reports.

  • Use the Comments section to discuss updates, share feedback, or clarify requirements.

  • Mention teammates using @username to notify them directly.

📎 Example: “@Lerato Please review the design and confirm before Friday.”

Step 4: Update Task Status

As the task progresses, change its status to reflect its stage:

  • 🟡 To Do – Not started yet

  • 🔵 In Progress – Currently being worked on

  • 🟢 Completed – Finished and approved

  • 🔴 Blocked – On hold or awaiting input

⚙️ Tip: Enable Automatic Notifications so the project lead gets alerts when task statuses change.

Step 5: Monitor Tasks and Deadlines

From the Tasks Dashboard or Project View, you can:

  • Filter tasks by assignee, due date, or status.

  • Sort tasks by Priority or Deadline.

  • Use Kanban View for a drag-and-drop visual workflow.

  • View Gantt Chart to track overlapping timelines and dependencies.

💡 Pro Tip: Check the Progress Bar in each project to see overall completion percentage.

🧭 Best Practices

  • Keep task titles short and action-oriented (e.g., “Submit Report” vs. “Report”).

  • Always assign one clear owner per task to ensure accountability.

  • Add descriptions and attachments to reduce back-and-forth communication.

  • Review and update statuses daily to maintain accurate dashboards.

  • Watch task management tutorials on the IXL Core YouTube Channel for advanced tracking tips.
