🚀 Overview
A milestone marks an important stage in your project, such as a deliverable, client approval, or phase completion.
Using milestones in IXL Core gives you better visibility into your project’s timeline and performance.
Every milestone can include a target date, description, responsible person, and related tasks — making it easier to measure progress at a glance.
🔧 Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1: Open Your Project
-
Log in to https://app.ixlcore.com.
-
Click the Projects module from the top navigation bar.
-
Select the project you want to track milestones for.
-
Go to the Milestones tab inside the project.
Step 2: Add a New Milestone
-
Click “Add Milestone” or the ➕ icon.
-
Fill in the milestone details:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Milestone Name | Short title describing the goal (e.g., “Design Phase Completion”). |
| Description | A few sentences explaining what this milestone represents. |
| Start Date / Due Date | Define when the milestone begins and when it should be achieved. |
| Assigned To | Choose the person or department responsible for delivery. |
| Status | Set as Not Started, In Progress, or Completed. |
-
Click Save Milestone.
💡 Tip: Use clear, outcome-based names — “Client Approval Received” is better than “Phase 2.”
Step 3: Link Tasks to a Milestone
-
Once your milestone is saved, open it to view details.
-
Under the Linked Tasks section, click “Add Task”.
-
Select existing tasks related to that milestone.
-
Click Save Changes.
🔗 Tip: Linking tasks helps IXL Core automatically calculate milestone completion progress based on finished tasks.
Step 4: Track Progress
You can view milestone progress in multiple ways:
-
Milestone Dashboard: See all project milestones in one view with completion percentages.
-
Gantt Chart: Visualize milestones on a timeline to track overlaps and dependencies.
-
Project Overview Widget: Monitor key milestones directly from your main dashboard.
📊 Example:
If 4 out of 5 linked tasks are complete, the milestone shows 80% progress automatically.
Step 5: Update or Close a Milestone
-
Go to the Milestones Tab.
-
Click on the milestone you want to update.
-
Change the status to Completed once all tasks and deliverables are done.
-
Add final notes or attach proof of delivery documents if needed.
🧾 Tip: Closing milestones keeps project records clean and reports accurate.
